Yikes!!!!!! Where have the days gone? I feel like I have been working and practicing the violin with my daughter and nothing else! That means it's time to make time. Does that make any sense?

This is actually yesterday's hair-do. We had stopped at a little convenient store after violin lessons to let my daughter pick out a treat for practicing so hard this week. Not to mention she had such a great attitude about it and wanted to only work on the things she actually needed work on. Most of the time it seems like they want to take the easy way out...but she really wants to learn. She has done gymnastics and ballet and this is the first thing she has actually really loved:) She talks about it all the time and we practice 6 days a week. Well it was so cute, because we were standing next to 2 teenage girls and one of them said "that has to be one of the coolest hair-dos I've ever seen in my life". My daughter thought it was the coolest thing that TEENAGE girls liked her hair:)

We started with regular ol' piggy tails.

Next we did a pull through knot on each side.

Take the hair from the ponytail and split it into 2 pieces.

Using those 2 sections twist both sections out. (The left one left and the right one right.)

Twist until tight and hook with an elastic. We repeated this 2 more times. You may need more or less depending on how long your daughter's hair is.

We curled under the ends and added some hair things.

A birthday do....for Liza Loo!

Today is my daughter's best friend's birthday! If you are a regular follower you will recognize her cute face! If not you can see her here...here...and now here! Today she Turns 8. So I would like to wish her a Happy 8th Birthday! My daughter slept over at her house and got to attend her birthday party and now today a couple of the girls get to go to a fun place called Kangaroo Zoo! I am so glad they are friends. You know how you don't always like your kids friends? Well I actually LOVE Lizzie:) So I feel lucky that they are friends!

She had her family party and I asked her mom ( and my good friend Dawn) if I could do her hair! I gave Lizzie a few choices and this is what she picked!

I started out by making a part from one ear to the other and pulling the hair forward.

Then I slipped the headband over the part. (see my other hairdo similar to this one)

I took a section of hair from both sides of the headband and pulled it up over the headband.

Then I took that piece of hair and tied it into a knot.

Next I clipped it down and out of the way with a barrette.

I did one more on the left and 2 more off to the right side.

After I took the barrettes out I hooked them all together in the back with an elastic.

I curled the hair out and tied a ribbon around the elastic.

Princess Jeweliana- A Barbie do!

This hairdo comes from Barbie as the Island Princess. Princess Jeweliana has this simple do in the movie. I had a hard time finding a picture of the back of her head during the movie so I didn't post one! My daughter LOVES all of the Barbie movies. Sadly enough...Yes we do own all of the barbie movies. Although this one is not my favorite of them.

My daughter's hair is not nearly as long or thick as the girls in the movie, but it was so simple and my daughter really wanted me to do her hair like hers...so I did:)

Part the hair down to the ear on each side and braid them.

Connect the 2 braids in the back and then braid that piece too.

Grab all of the hair and pull it down so it is a ponytail, but not a tight ponytail.

Then I curled it under and tied bows around the elastics to cover them up.

Front picture! This was taken months ago. When she was still my kindergarten baby:) Am I the only one taking first grade so hard? Or do other moms cry thinking about their daughter growing up?

Butterfly Bobby Pins

I am not the most talented when it comes to actually making hair things. But there are a few things that I can do that are easy and I thought I would share them with you!

A couple posts ago I posted this hair-do! I added these decorative bobby pins that I had made myself. I really loved how they turned out and they were easy AND fast to make.

You will need a glue gun, a skinny piece of ribbon, a few bobby pins, and some embellishments of your choice (Jolene from Dip Diddly designs gave me mine from Ben Franklin's Craft store) but you can find these sort of things anywhere.

Take your embellishment and add a small strip of hot glue to the back of the embellishment.

Next, take your bobby pin and push it into the hot glue and hold it there for a few seconds.

After it is attached to the back, spread open the bobby pin.

Cut a small piece of ribbon that is not quite as wide as the embellishment. Add another small dollop of glue over the bobby pin and then slide the piece of ribbon up and over the hot glue. Push it onto the back of the embellishment. That should complete your decorative bobby pin.

I only did 3 because that is how many I needed for the hair-do I was using them for.

I added them to her hair, which looked beautiful! So if you are like me and not that good at making hair things, this should be a simple project that you can actually do! My daughter loved helping me make these! Look forward to a few more EASY hair related craft ideas in the future!!! Also if you live in Utah like I do...Happy 24th of July! Checkered Braids

My Husband had surgery last Friday and I have been super busy trying to do all the stuff around the house AND take care of him this weekend. He is doing okay (nothing life threatening). I wanted to post this sooner but life just gets away with me sometimes! Too bad I have to work during the week!

This was pretty simple, and I love the way it turned out. When you do braids up front like this...the options are endless for the next day's hair-do.

Start by parting her hair on both sides down to the middle of her ear, and pull the rest back into a ponytail.

Section out 3 equal sections and then pull the middle one up and out of the way.

I braided 3 braids in the left section.

Then I braided 3 braids in the right section but only part way down.

I braided 4 in the middle section. Once again pulling these up and out of the way.

Take the top of the 3 braids on the left side and connect it to the top braid on the right side. Notice I connected them on the back/right side of her head?

Then braid this piece. Add the next braid down on each side into the middle piece. Repeat with the bottom braid on each side.

Grab the 4 braids from the middle section and weave them over and under the sideways braids,(alternating with each braid).

I slipped some decorative bobby pins down into the connection points of the connecting braid to cover the elastics. Curl the hair. I did half ringlets and half partial curls.

Crossed and Wrapped Braids

Before I start this post I realized my pictures were not the best. If anyone wants me to provide better instructions e-mail me or leave a comment saying so and I will re-create it with a better step-by-step. Sorry and I hope it makes enough sense:)

This was done the day after this hair-do. Which made this go by super fast because the braids were left in from yesterday's do. Go check it out to see how this Hair-do originated.

I started with these 9 braids. She slept in them so they are a little frizzier than I would like but I am not about to re-do them either.

Pull the braids out of the way and clip them together.

Take the remaining hair and put it in a side ponytail.

Un-clip the braids.

I had 9 braids because they were left over from yesterday. But, if I were doing this for the first day and didn't already have the braids in, I would have done 10 braids so it would be even.
Start with the braid in the middle and grab the braid next to it. Wrap them around each other.

Then I grabbed the braid on the other side and did the same thing.

Do this with all of the braids. The pieces on the right side I hooked into her ponytail with an elastic. The second to last section I put an elastic in to hold it's shape. When you get to the last braid on the left side you will need to tie the braids in a knot.

After you tie the braids in a knot add an elastic at the bottom of it to keep it's shape.

Take these last 2 sections and tie them together in a knot.Then hook them into the ponytail.

See how on the right side I also put an elastic in the last section to hold it's shape?

Then I put her hair in a messy type of bun. Then I added my hair thing and it was done. The instructions make this seem like an extremely long hair-do, but it took me under 10 minutes.

Triple, Tripled braids

Before you check out today's hair-do make sure you check out my giveaway going on right now for some really adorable hair bows from Chic Clips!!!

This was a very simple hair style that doesn't take alot of know how to do. Not to mention tomorrow I will be posting Day-2 of this hair-do. Who doesn't love a hair-do that you can get 2 days out of?.............................Well I do anyways:)

First Start by parting the hair down behind her ear on both sides and pulling the rest into a ponytail.

Part out a section in the middle and pull out of the way.

Braid the remaining sections on both sides into 3 braids.

Next braid the 3 braids into 1 braid.

After you do this on both sides use the middle section to do the same thing.

Use all 3 braided braids and hook together in the back.

Cover the elastic with an accessory (this one is from All Things Ribbon) and curl the ends under.

Simply Pulled Back with a Headband

So tons of people left comments about how they couldn't believe I could get my daughter to sit still for my hair-dos. Not all of them take that long, and some look like they would take longer than they do. I do have some easier do's posted in my archives, and for ease of finding the simple and fast ones, I have added a new label on the old styles as well as the new ones called: Fast and Easy. So those of you looking for something simple I DO have some of those... and will have more coming!

So Lizzie Bunny came over and I wanted to do her hair (meet Lizzie Bunny HERE) but didn't have alot of time and I still wanted it to be cute. So here is an easy 5 minute hair-do.

Start by parting the hair down to the middle of her ears on both sides.
Then pull the rest into a regular ol' ponytail.

Then I put the headband on covering the part. This Headband is from All Things Ribbon.com. Some of you have heard of it, but for those of you who haven't they have some really amazing hair things.

Next take the hair on one side and pull it back to the ponytail.

Wrap it around the base of the ponytail. Repeat on the other side.

Depending on how long the hair is you may need to wrap it more than once. For Lizzie bunny we did it twice. Hook the pieces underneath with a small elastic.

Braided Ball Chains

I hope you all had an amazing and relaxing fourth of July! We had SO much fun! It just happens to be one of my very favorite holidays! We didn't really do much in the world of hair though!

I wasn't really sure what to name this...so this is the name I came up with. This was a super easy hair-do and even my husband said he liked it. Which normally I have to sit and hound him and say "Don't you think her hair looks cute? It turned out So cute huh?" I swear he wouldn't even care if I didn't even brush it! Is my husband the only one like this?

I started with a zig-zag part down the middle.

Next I made a small ponytail from the part down to the back of her ear on each side.

Then I used the remaining hair and made pigtails on the bottom.

Using the top ponytails I made 2 braids in each and hooked them to the piggy tail underneath it.

Braid 4 braids in each piggy tail and hook them together with an elastic at the bottom.

Next I added 2 more elastics in the middle of the braids. Before adding the elastics I kinda poofed them out into a ball shape and then added the elastic so they would stay in this shape.

Very rarely do we not add any accessories, but she didn't want any in. She thought they would distract from her new earrings she got at the carnival! LOL How funny is that!?!?

Flag Flare~Version 2!!!

So I thought of this when I did this last post with the beads. Sorry if the instructions seem short and to the point, but I really didn't have much time this morning:)

This picture really does not do this hair-do justice. We both loved it. Actually she usually likes these funkier ones better.

I started with a small ponytail up front on both sides. Then I did a pull-through knot in each one.

Then I hooked it into another ponytail underneath.

Do a pull through knot in the bottom 2 so it looks like this.

I made this with pipe cleaner and some beads. I made it the night before so the hair-do would be a quick one. This is definitely the fastest of all the fourth of July hair-dos so far. It only took about 10 minutes to make the flag and ten minutes the morning we actually did her hair. I just made the pattern to fit her head.

I twisted the pipe cleaner around itself to keep the beads in place. When I was done with the beads I cut off all the middle section of pipe cleaner so it was just the pieces i needed to wrap around the ponytails.

Slide the pipe cleaner under the pull troughs and twist around the ponytail until its secure.

Do this same thing on both sides.

Curl the hair under and that's it!!!!

Braided Bead Star

I know, I know.... another Fourth of July hairstyle. Are you getting sick of it yet? Don't worry the fourth is almost here and then I promise I'll move on to other things. For some reason It's so much fun coming up with hair-dos for holidays. If you didn't get to see the first ones see HERE and HERE.

For this hair-do you will need some red, white, and blue beads. Four pieces of pipe cleaner (we used red), and pipe cleaner is super cheap. Last but not least bows, or some Holiday flavored ribbon.

Start with a small section of hair in the front/middle of her head.

Do a pull-through knot.

Make 2 more small ponytails on each side of the first. Do a pull through in each of these as well.

Hopefully everyone knows what a pull through knot is. If not I am going to try and post some Hair basics in Video form, I just have to learn how first:)

Pull the hair from the 3 ponytails out of the way and then do some regular ol' piggy tails.

I took 2 pieces of pipe cleaner and pushed them through the underneath side of the pull through knot. Next I twisted about a 1/2 an inch of the pipe cleaner around itself (see picture above). Split the middle section into 2 pieces.

Make a braid using the pipe cleaner as 1 of the strands.

Each time before I braided the pipe cleaner into the hair I strung on 1 bead alternating the colors.

Secure the left section of the middle piece to the left piggy tail. Do the same thing on the right.

Now move to the outer sections of hair. Braid them using the same technique. Secure the bottom of the outer pieces with an elastic.

Next I took the outer braids and crossed them over to the opposite side piggy tail. Notice I weaved them under the already secured braids. Secure and add your bow or ribbon. I curled her piggy tails under and sprayed with hairspray.

Sewn Stars and the Giveaway Winners!

Here is another idea for those of you feeling patriotic! This was pretty quick and it was cute....not my favorite in the whole world or anything but she really liked the stars! I have several other fourth of July styles, so sorry if you get sick of seeing them!

I'm sure many of you have seen these sock buns before, but for those of you who haven't I will explain how I did it. All you do is cut the tip of a sock off and roll it up like in the picture. Roll it up until you can't roll it anymore.

I did her hair is some high piggy tails and slipped the hole of the sock around each one.

Next, take the hair from the piggy tail and wrap it around the sock so it covers it.

To get it to stay I carefully slid a stretchy hair thing over it.

I sectioned off a piece of hair and clipped it out of the way. This piece will be needed to wrap around the base of the bun.

I used this plastic craft needle to thread some thin blue ribbon through.

I slid it under the elastic and tied a knot so the ribbon would not slip off.

Then I used the needle to start sewing a star.

Each time I crossed the ribbon over the bun I only sewed it underneath the elastic.

Once my star was formed I tied the ribbon in another knot around the elastic.

Using the sectioned off piece from earlier I twisted it and then wrapped it around the base of the bun bobby pinning it into place. Repeat on the other side. If you wanted you could always just do 1 bun to cut down on time.

Flag Flare-for your Hair!

I noticed some people doing some fourth of July hair-dos and thought it would be fun to come up with some of my own! And man was it fun brainstorming about it! This has to be my favorite of what I came up with!

A flag sewn into some braids! It was adorable! And despite how it looks it really didn't take that long.

I bought a small flag from the craft store.

I carefully removed the staples that were holding it to the stick.

I parted her hair down the middle and tied the other side off to keep it out of the way.

Start with one small ponytail up front on the left side of her head.

Braid it and hook it into another small ponytail underneath it.

Repeat the last step, so it looks like this.

Do the same thing on the other side. This would also look cute with inside out french braids, but this was easier and faster for me considering my lack of french braiding talent.

I strung a small white ribbon through one of these plastic craft needles.

I pulled it through the flag so the ribbon would run through the flag so I would have a good starting point.

I trimmed the flag so it would fit between the braids and positioned it how I wanted it. Then I starting sewing it to her braids. The needle pushed through the fabric on my flag but you could cut small slits if your material will not allow for this.

I did this on both sides. Then I took the ribbon at the bottom and tied it around each piggy-tail.

I bought this stuff a while ago at the craft store. It's a little silver plastic bead string!?!?
I don't know what it is actually used for, but it was $0.25 in the clearance bin so I bought it!

I cut 2 small piece of the silver bead and a cute ribbon to match. See how I Criss crossed the beads so I could tie the ribbon around it?

and..... TADA, cute huh?

Finally... a messy bun I can call my own!

When I started doing this hair-do, this is not what I had envisioned. It was a completely different style! Yikes. Her hair was too thick to do the style I had imagined. I am going to save that style for another time and another model! So this is what I came up with instead. If you have been following me from the beginning you know I cannot do a messy bun very well. So stumbling upon this worked out perfectly!

Start by pulling most of the hair into a ponytail. I only left out a small section at the bottom.

Next I did a reverse pull through. Where I brought the hair up through a hole in the middle of the ponytail underneath the elastic.

It should look like this. I then proceeded to do the same thing 2 more times(2 more reverse pull throughs). This will vary depending on how long your daughter's hair is.

I braided the section at the bottom into 3 small braids.

Remove the original elastics and add all 3 braids into 1 common elastic.

So now you have this silly hair sticking up through the inside of the bun.

Take the braided section and pull it up through the same hole you did the pull-throughs through.

See how you have this section of hair that is coming up through the hole? Bobby pin it so it stays put. Fold it down over the bun and spray with Hairspray until it reaches it's desired shape.

I bought these cute hair pins from our local dance/ballet supplier. It's like an open ended bobby-pin with a flower jewel on the end.

Slide them into their desired location. Or place whatever kind of hair accessory you decided to use.

Criss-Cross-Goulash!

As redundant as this may seem some of you may not know about my giveaway going on. So go check it out now!

I am calling this hair-do Criss-Cross-Goulash because it had so much going on. I just couldn't decide what to name it. Isn't Goulash just a recipe with whatever you can find thrown in together? That's kind of what this hair-do is. It has French braids, criss cross ponytails and a messy bun all combined into one. Is this name dorky? If you have any suggestions on a better name, I more than welcome them:)

First I parted a section off to the side going down to her ears on both sides, then pulled the rest back to keep it out of the way.

Then I did a french braid on each side.

Next I made 3 small ponytails behind the french braid.

I made one more ponytail on each side adding the french braids into them. That makes a total of 5 directly behind the french braids.

Then I made 3 more small pony tails underneath the first ones.

I split the ponytails in 2 and added them to the ponytails off to the sides. Kind-of in a triangle shape.

See picture because I am horrible at trying to explain this part!!!

I made another 3 ponytails and repeated the above step.

See how the x in the middle is underneath the criss-crosses? This is how I like it to look, so when I criss-crossed the bottom row I started with the middle pieces.

At this point I just combined all of the hair and pulled it into a ponytail.

Instead of pulling her hair all the way through for a ponytail, I only pulled it half-way to give it this messy bun look. Then I added my accessory and hairspray.

Over the Ribbon Rainbow....

You'll need 4 different colors of Ribbon, some elastics and 2 bows!!!

I mentioned in one of my last posts how much it's been raining here. Well...thanks to the rain we have been lucky enough to see several brightly colored Rainbows over the last week at my house! Yeah! They have been beautiful. Well those rainbows and the fact that rainbows are one of her favorite things (does any little girl not like rainbows?) gave me this idea. It was just for fun, but she loved it!

First I started with an exaggerated part off to one side of her head. (after I wished the part would have been a little more exaggerated).

Then I parted out a large rectangle section (like in the picture)

I secured that piece on top of her head and pulled the rest of her hair into regular ol' piggy tails.

I used the hair that was secured on top and divided it into 4 sections and did a pull through knot in each one.

If you want to do this without one of these tools, stick your finger through the ponytail underneath the elastic and then flip the elastic through the hole you made with your finger and pull the ponytail through the hole? Does this make sense?

I did all the pull through's kind-of on an angle so the ponytails would be slanting toward the pig-tail on her left side.

Take a long piece of ribbon and slide it underneath the pull through.

Make sure the ribbon is even on both sides, then tie a knot in the ribbon.

For this step I just took the ribbon and wrapped it around the piece of hair.

Secure it to the pig-tail so the ribbon does not come unraveled. Do this with the remaining pieces of hair. We chose the 4 colors we did because they match the rainbow on the front of her shirt:)

After all four pieces were wrapped with ribbon I hooked them to the piggy tail with a clear elastic.

I cut some of the same ribbon and tied them around the other piggy tail so it would not be so plain. The big white bows are supposed to represent white puffy clouds! I curled under her piggy tails and also the ribbon pieces.

A few of our favorite things...Summer Giveaway Part 2!!! NOW CLOSED

Okay...so this is the second part to this giveaway!!! It is a few of our favorite things. It's fun and kids love them:) Especially in the summer. Rainy Days and a Giveaway Pre-view

It is raining where I live...and it has been raining for days. Apparently it is supposed to rain for another 10 days. I know I don't mind the rain, but kids who barely started a summer break sure do! It's not all rainy days ahead, and even if it is, my giveaway starting Monday June 15th has some fun stuff that can help with boredom. So make sure you come and check it out! Also I have some new fun do's to post as well. Since we are stuck inside I figured it was the perfect opportunity to mess around with some new ideas I've had (because sometimes they don't always end up how I plan). Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets halfway through before they realize the hair-do is a disaster? Maybe I am?!?!? Hope you all have a great weekend!

Partial French Braided Piggy-Tails

This is my niece Kaia! It was fun to do her hair! She was laughing almost the whole time!!! She said I was making funny faces every time I took a picture of her. Who knows....I probably was. She is just not use to someone taking her picture while doing her hair!!!

It is quite different when you are doing someones hair that is SO different from the hair you are use to. Ya know?

I started with a part slightly to one side. Whichever you prefer works best.

Then I made a small part on one side down to her ear, and braided about 1/2 an inch.

Then I took a small piece of hair on one side and added it to the braid.

Then I did the same thing on the other side. Notice I am only using small sections from the sides and leaving the rest down?!?! Does this make sense?

I did this one more time adding 1 more piece from each side.

I repeated this on both sides of her head, then tied those pieces off with an elastic. Then I took the rest of the hair that was left down and parted it in 2.

I made 2 regular piggy tails with this hair.

Next I took one of the braids and twisted in towards the other side of her head.

Connect the twisted piece to the piggy tail on the opposite side of her head.

Repeat the same thing on the other side.

Add your Hair Bling...or hair accessories to the piggy-tails to cover up the elastics!

Okay so I have been sicker than a dog and didn't post a do yesterday or today! Yikes. I have like 5 sitting in my camera. Actually I have been so sick I even let my daughter go without her hair getting done for 3 days now! If you knew me you would be shocked! Three day weekend-do # 3

Okay so this is the third day I have left her hair in! I normally do not EVER leave it in this long and I made her shower that night. But we were busy doing stuff that weekend...so I let it go. I did hate washing her 3 day hair sprayed hair!!!

This is leftover from this hair-do (day 1) then this hair-do (day 2) Now this is day 3 of using the same base for the do's!

Check out this hair-do for the instructions to the first half.

Then I made the 2 twists in the bottom 2 sections and pulled it all back into 1 ponytail.

I curled it under and that was that! I hate when I forget to take a front view....but what do ya do?

This is day 2 of the last hair-do I had posted. She had actually slept in it and we just took out the elastics holding the x's in place.

We left in the original 6 ponytails (see here). I took a small comb and sprayed the sections and combed the frizzy parts down smooth.

Next I took one of the front ponytails and put 2 twists in it securing them with elastics. Repeat on the other side.

Take the 2 twists on the left side and cross them over and secure them to second ponytail on the right side.

Take the first twist and weave it under and then over the 2 secured twists.

Do the same thing with the second twist. But this time weave them opposite of the first twist. So you will go over and then under.

Now secure those twists the same as you did the first 2. Take out the remaining twists from the new sections. It should look like this.

Repeat the same thing with the bottom section.

When I got to the bottom ponytails I only did 1 twist on each side. Secure each with an elastic.

Next I tied them in a regular knot by wrapping one twist around the other.

Then I secured it with an elastic.

Now it is time for some hair bling, or whatever sort of accessories you want to add. She wanted something fancy because it was memorial day and we were going to put flowers on Grandma's grave.

I just wanted to post really quick giving thanks to all the other bloggers out there! I got an award yesterday from The Mom at Babes in Hairland and my daughter wanted to know what I won? But it was a great honor to me...especially since I have been following her blog for quite a long time. So thanks for the award!!! It was alot of fun to receive.

Double Criss-Cross Pigtails

Okay, Okay, I know. I have rambled on enough about the giveaway!!! On to the hair!

I started with a part down the middle (YES my parts ARE uneven! oops!) Then I made 3 ponytails on each side of her head.

I took a small section of hair out of each of the front ponytails.

Then I crossed them over eachother and clipped the right side to the ponytail below it. Then I took the crossed over section of hair (on the left) and the hair left over from the front ponytail and hooked them to the ponytail below it with a clear elastic. Then I repeated the same thing on the right side.

This is what the first half should look like.

Then I did the same thing on the lower half.

This is where the hairspray and Hair bling will come into place!!! Use whatever kind of Hair things you want. I just used some plain pink bows.

Slight Pigtail Variation

Since my Giveaway is titled "A few of our favorite things" I thought this would be the perfect post. This is a very simple version of regular ol' piggy tails. Which just happen to be my daughter's very favorite style. Plain ol' Pigtails. Since I seem to have a problem with regular ol' things...I have changed it up just a little bit.

It still looks like very basic pigtails but with a slight variation. This way is fast and easy but we are both happy :) !!!

Part a small section out on both sides (like shown in the picture). Keep this section up front and out of the way.

While keeping the 2 sections out up front, part the hair down the middle and put in 2 regular pigtails.

Take the 2 parted out sections and pull them back over the hair holding in the pigtails. I combed it so it would be smooth.

Next take these 2 sections and do a simple shoelace knot by wrapping one strand around the other one and pulling tight.

Hook each end of the knot into the pigtail closest to it, using a new elastic.

Add some bling. Bows, Flowers, ribbon. Whatever suits your mood for the day. Curl the hair under and spray with hairspray.

That's that. Very simple pigtails with a slight variation. After all is said and done it adds maybe 1-2 minutes and to her looks exactly the same as the original variation.

Two Slanted Frenchbraids

Before I start this post go HERE and enter my giveaway!!!

I am going to start off by saying I am not the best at french braiding and I am horribly slow at it to boot. So please do me a favor and look at the concept of this hair-do...NOT how well the french braids are done.

Also, if you like this cute shirt she is wearing check out my giveaway going on here for a chance to win one of 2 gift certificates to Justice "just for girls".

First I parted her hair all the way around her head and pulled the hair out of the way. I put the bottom half in a ponytail to keep it secured while I worked with the top half of hair.

Then I took the hair from the top and took it out of the clip. i parted it slightly off to the side and combed it so it would lay nice.

Part out a section from the middle part on the left side of her head. then start an inside out french braid.

Always add the hair to the top strand crossing over. Each time you add some hair only add it from the top.

Continue doing this around her head until you are on the other side.

When it gets to the other side keep braiding the hair to the bottom of her hair using a regular 3-strand braid. It will look like this when you are done with the top section.

I pulled the braid out of the way and then did the same thing with the hair that was in the ponytail. You could always start from the bottom and do that piece first, then the top section. Now that I am thinking about it...it probably would have been easier that way.

This is how it looks after both sections have been braided.

I bobby pinned the loose section on the sides so it would hold this part in.

I did the same thing on the top.

I covered the bobby pins with a flower clip. Then put a new elastic on the braids to hold them together to look like one. I also slid 1 bobby pin through the braids to hold them together better.
Then I took out the original elastics and flipped the bottom of the braid through it.

Braided with two Braids

I really liked this. There was just something about it to me.

I felt a little bad when she was worried about riding her bike because the helmet would mess up her hair. You are obviously obsessed when your child is concerned about hair over play!

I just noticed I start alot of my hair-dos the same!!! Part the hair down the middle and then part out a small section up front from the part to the middle of her ear.

Then part a small section on the back side of the part like shown in the picture ( It really is true a picture is worth a thousand words... sometimes I can't seem to find the words that clearly explain what the picture does).

Braid both of the sections you parted out. tie them off with elastics. The middle will act as the middle strand of a braid.

Pretend like this is a regular braid by taking the two small braids and crossing them over each other in a X shape.

Then continue to braid them as you would any braid. Tie the end off with an elastic.

This is what it should look like. I then curled the ends under and tied a ribbon covering each elastic.

The end result. Love it! But I love it all. Maybe it's all great ...or maybe SHE'S just great:).

The Squid Bun

See how the hair thing (squid) is pulled up through the middle of the bun?

I call this hair-do the Squid bun because that's what my daughter calls those hair things. Ya know the ones with the ribbon hanging down all over the place. She likes it cause when it's like this it reminds her of a squid. Hence...the name. We also like to do it with a bun on each side like this. It is actually cuter with 2 but it's all the same. You get the idea.

First you need a squid (see picture above) a cute scrunchy and some bobby pins. Oh yeah, and Hairspray. Don't forget the hairspray.

Pull the hair into a ponytail. For those of you who don't care for a side ponytail ;) you can always place it on the back of the head.

Now put the hair thing (squid) around the ponytail.

Take and twist the hair and wrap it around itself at the base of her head pulling the squid up through the middle of the bun.

Secure bun with bobby pins. This is what it looks like from the back.

See how the hair thing (squid) is pulled up through the middle of the bun?

Then we just put the scrunchy around the base.

Look how excited she is for school!!! Too bad that doesn't last forever.

Simple 3 into 1

This is one we did about a week or so ago. I love complex...but nothing beats simplicity. This is just three basic braids tied into one.

I can't stand how cute she is. I love doing her hair. I can't help myself.

First I started by making a part down the middle of her head and then down to the middle of her ear on each side.

Next I made three sections on each side and braided them. Giving me a total of six braids. As you can tell in the picture I only braided them each a few inches. Then I hooked them together with a small elastic. Repeat on both sides. Now take those pieces and braid them and hook together in the back.

I like to take the braids and flip them in front of her head and spray the hair down so it lays nice and flat for when you bring the braids back over.

This is the best close-up I got a picture of. I wish I would've taken a close-up from the side.

Curl the ends under. ( I always do this. Her hair isn't done until it's curled under) I chose not to put any accessories in her hair. The elastics match her outfit and I thought by not adding a hair thing it added to the simple elegance of the style.

Hidden Headband

I really loved this one. It was fun and I thought it turned out really well. I personally have a love/hate relationship with headbands. So this is just one of my many headband ideas to help keep the headband in place.

I hate when they get home from school and you can tell they have taken the headband off and put it back on at least 100 times.

I like to do this hairdo with pretty wet hair. I started with a part down to the middle of her ear on each side. Then I pull the rest of the hair back into a ponytail to help keep it out of the way.

Then I took that section of hair and parted IT down the middle. Now you have the 2 sections of hair.

Twist the back section of hair and use a barrette or a clip to keep it out of the way.

(do this on both sides)

Now you can take your headband and place it over the part you just made. It works best if you use a skinny headband.

Unhook the hair from the back of her head that is secured with barrettes. Divide out a square section. Make sure to use the hair that is on both sides of the headband. Now split the square section into 2 sections (like shown in the picture). Tie it into a knot by wrapping one strand under the other.

Pull the knot tight. You now have one section on the back side, and one in the front. You will use the one in the front to add to the next knot.

The section in the back needs to be pulled tight. Secure it with a barrette.

Repeat the steps above until you have reached the bottom of that side.

After you make the last knot secure BOTH sections in the back. Repeat on the other side.

Take the sections that were secured down and pull them together in the back with an elastic.
I like to add a hair thing to cover the elastic. Curl the ends under and it's done!!!

This is an adorable picture of Aryanna and her best friend Lizzie

Braided Ponytails...and a new Model!!!

I am going to start off this post and tell you about this beautiful model we have here today!!! This is Lizzie. AKA Lizzie Bunny, Liza Loo, Liza Moo, Liza Loo Moo, Or if you want you can call her by her actual name....Eliza.

She just happens to be my oldest daughter's bestest friend. She lives 30 seconds away. They are always saying that they are sisters and not best friends. We love to have her over....and I LOVE TO DO HER HAIR!!!

Here is a beautiful picture of her standing on my front porch (after we did her hair).

First I started by making a large triangle shaped ponytail in the middle of her head.

Then I took the hair on the right side of the ponytail and pulled it covering the part.

Then I made that piece into a small ponytail next to the first one.

Next, I did the same thing on the left side of her head. Pulling it over to hide the part and making it into a small ponytail.

I skipped the step where I did the same thing with the hair underneath. So if you look closely at the picture there are 3 more ponytails underneath the first three. So there are a total of 6 ponytails.

Take the first 3 ponytails and start to braid them.

Continue braiding until you get to the next 3 ponytails.

At this point you want to add the left ponytail to the left strand of the braid, the middle ponytail to the middle strand of the braid, and the right ponytail to the right strand of the braid.

Continue braiding to the bottom and tie off with an elastic. Spray it with Hairspray. I am the queen of hairspray!!!

We only pulled the hair out of the elastic part way to give it a Spikey look. Then add whatever accessories you want to add.

And Voila! Thanks for being my model Lizzie!!! I'm sure we'll see you again soon.

A Scarf, A headband, and a Bow!!!

This scarf has to be one of my favorite new accessories!!! It can be a Scarf, a Headband, or a bow. I usually love stuff like this, but do not like it slipping out of my daughter's hair. When I do her hair I want it to last all day. From 6:30am to 7:00 o'clock at night.

I made a collage of her cause she kept wanting to pose for me. She is always telling me how she wants to be on America's Next Top Model when she grows up, and she said that this hair-do made her feel like a Rock Star.

The first thing I did was part a small section of hair all the way around her head. Then I pulled the rest of it in a bun to keep it out of the way.

Next I took the sectioned out hair and made small ponytails all the way around the head.

After making all the small ponytails I took the Scarf and lightly tied it where I wanted it to be placed. Then I made a small ponytail across from the first ones (see picture above) and hooked the hair from the first side to the new small ponytails.

I continued to do this with all of the hair. Then I pulled all of the sections and hooked them into the main ponytail. I tied the scarf on the side into a large bow.

See how it is a scarf, a headband, and a bow? This accessory has endless possibilities.

Last but not least... I curled the ponytail and sprayed the heck out of it with hairspray.

Help!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, so I went to Maploco.com and loaded a map to my page. Fun right? Not.

It was actually really cool, I was seeing all the places people were coming from. Switzerland, Dubai?!?!? Hungary, Chicago, South Dakota. But for some reason the picture on the map was not updating! It kept saying 1 places...no views, but when I clicked on it, it showed the list of where and when. So I deleted it and tried again. A pink accessory, with an outfit that finally matches!

So I really don't know what to call this one, but it was really cute.

Something funny about this pink hair thing...Santa gave it to me in my stocking for Christmas, actually he gave me a whole stocking full of hair stuff. Silly as it sounds, this is the first time I have ever used it. Four and a half months later. Partially because I have alot of hair things and partially because I couldn't find anything that was the same color pink. Until now anyway. She just got this outfit about a week ago and when I brought it home I realized it was a perfect match!!! YEAH!!!!!! I was so excited. I wanted it to be a basic style so you could get the whole effect of the hair thing without it being overwhelmed by the hair-do (does that make sense?).

Here are the accessories that I used to do this style. A hair doughnut, and a pretty pink hair thing. I bought the hair doughnut at a local hair supply store. It might have cost $3-$4, but I honestly cannot remember. If you are super frugal...and do not want to have to purchase one of these I have seen people use a rolled up sock. Actually I have done this myself and only bought one because my daughter was telling people she had a dirty sock in her hair! LOL!!! It's funny now, but it wasn't when people were asking me about it. So I started this style with a high side ponytail. It doesn't matter which side. Pick the one you think best suits your daughters face. Then you just slip the hair doughnut (or sock) over the ponytail to the base.

Take the hair from the ponytail and spread it over and around to cover the Hair doughnut. I like to spray it with ton of hairspray at this point and get it looking nice. Then I take a ponytail holder and wrap it around the bun (as seen above).

Next I separate out the top section of hair and twist it up leaving the rest of the hair hanging down.

Then while continuing to twist the sectioned out piece I wrap it around the base of the bun to cover up the ponytail holder. Secure this piece with bobby pins. You can easily leave it like this, but I chose to slip the hair thing around the bun.

So between the angle of my pics and the hair thing you can't tell that the hair that was left down is curled...but it is.

TA DA!!!!! Okay, so if you made it through that extremely long post, for a not so difficult hair-do, you deserve an award.

My version of a Messy Bun (Cheating)!!!

Okay...so I suck at messy buns. I am horrible at them, it is not one of my strong points. I have tried every way out there to make my messy buns look cute and not...well...messy. But, unfortunately they still look like I didn't even try to make them look nice. I know there are some of you out there who have mastered the messy/tousled look. So This video is my version of a messy bun. Okay, Okay, I know I cheated my way there, but that is just one more reason I like this way. It's fast. Super fast. I don't know how many of you work?!?! But I do, and some mornings I can't drag my butt out of bed. So we like fast and cute styles for those days.

We started this with a plain ol' ponytail and one of those fake hair scrunchies. We actually bought ours at Family Dollar, for $1. So it's a fast and cheap hair-do!

Okay, so the video's pics are not all that clear and it took too long to try and change the whole thing, so I just added 1 picture at the bottom of the finished product.

A doo from the zoo times two!!!

Here we are...the same style as the last post. It is just going to double as a second style. I really liked the way it changed the look. It looks like I did alot better this time, I was able to post more pictures at one time.

Yeah for me. Well this hairstyle is Kinda Hippie-ish to me. The dress and the whole look she had just had that sort of feel to it. It really was quite beautiful....not sure if the pictures do it any justice ya know? These were actually taken on Mother's Day, when we went to the zoo!

I started out with a small part from the middle down to the front of her ear. Then I braided it.

As you can see, I did three small braids on each side.

Then I took the two front braids on each side and connected them in the back with a small elastic.

I braided that piece down about an inch or so and then connected the next two braids and secured them with an elastic.

Then I reapeated the last step braiding down and connecting the last two braids.

Then using these twist in hair accessories I twisted these over the elastics to cover them up and add some bling.

And of course I have to throw in the front shot. Dang she's cute! She is growing up so fast!

Honestly, I have wanted to start a blog for a while now. I never thought it was going to happen. I always seemed to have an excuse. I don't know how to start a blog... my camera sucks...I don't know enough about the computer.

Well enough's enough! About a week ago I went to my husband and insisted that I get a nice camera for Mother's day. So between another hair blogger and my awesome neighbor Lizz, I was able to pick the camera that was right for me. I Love it! Happy Mother's Day to me! Now I just need to learn how to use it. Not to mention learn how to do this whole blogging thing. So I will stick to the basics for now.

First I parted a small section down to the front of her ear on each side. Then I did them into corkscrew twists. I fastened each with a barrette. (My directions are kinda lame cause i can't figure out how to upload all 9 of the pictures. I could only get it to do 4! AAGGHH! Maybe with time I will figure it out)!

Second I parted out two more twists on each side I did a twist in the next one and added it to the first using it as one of the strands. I continued to do this with the next one and also with the ones on the other side.

When I got them all connected, I hooked them in the back with a clear elastic. Then topped it off with some Hair Bling.

This last picture is the finished product from the front. Isn't she gorgeous? How did we ever live without our beautiful Children? Really? What did we do for fun then?
